2. When you rescue a bichon, you don't just rescue a dog, you save a life long friend who will give you endless love. We know because we have seven of the little white love pots right now! The last rescue was Tessie. Tessie weighed under 4 lbs when we got her. She spent her first 3 years of life in a pen with 40 dogs having untreated seizures and breeding. She is now a pampered 8lb beauty. For anyone that rescues, keep in mind not all dogs are going to jump into your arms and thank you. Many have been abused and will take a lot of work and love to gain their trust. Give them time, space and above all, let them come to you when they are ready but when it happens...It is so worth it!
3. As an owner of a rescued pup, I can't say enough about adopting from a rescue group. My little pup was set to be euthanized in the pound, and the rescue people adopted her. I may have helped save her life, but her unconditional love has saved mine. Petfinder.com helped us both. Thanks, TMZ. For once you posted something worth reading.
6. There is nothing like a rescued doggie to show you true unconditional love. They are just a little more appreciative because they KNOW they are lucky, but you will end up feeling like the lucky one.
7. www.atailtotell.org
These wonderful people rescue and rehome puppymill dogs. These pets will love you furever!
Thanks TMZ for helping get the word out to stop puppymills.
8. Thank you, TMZ, for posting this. If even one person realizes the cruelty of puppy mills, then it has made all the difference. I'd like to see more celebrities doing good charitable things, especially when it comes to animals.
9. This dog appears to be a Bichon Frise, and a lot of puppy mill bichons are now being surrendered. You can see some if you visit www.BichonRescue.org -- that's .org, NOT .com. There's also a very cool blog about the people fostering these puppy mill dogs at www.find-foster-forward.org.
10. Vickie: contact your local rescue group. Petfinder.com is a great place to start. Type in your zip code and you will see all the dogs available, and all the rescues available. They often post stories of how the dog ended up in the rescue. From there, you can contact rescues and fill out an application.
