Ladies and Gents we have to understand, because we are black the bar is raised higher- much higher. I'm not entertaining the whole racist thing, but when a black artist goes "mainstream"
they need to have their %$#@! together understanding that image is EVERYTHING! We all know that don't we-- isn't that why we spend so much money on "fabulousness". Look at all of the artist that are internationally recognized, there came a time when their image made a cross over to appeal to the masses. For example Usher, Alcia Keys, Beyonce, and even Jay-Z -- once they hit that "Status" and got better stylist a lot changed for them-- in the $$$ and media department.
Some celebrities need better-- more skilled fashion stylist... like me:-)
I totally agree with those who say TMZ.com has made some really borderline racist statements in these picture captions. I just got done looking at the Britney and Paris pics and they were not nearly as harsh or critical!
This is ridiculous!
Someone on the TMZ staff has lost their mind.
First of all, the BET Awards was wonderful this year. Monique did her thing!!!! As far as the little comments about black people being racist. That is so NOT true!!! I am not naming names, but you know who you are. When you say black people, to me you are saying the whole race. So before you speak, THINK!!!! As far as this TMZ.com website, people always gonna hate on people that is doing way better than there are!!!!!! Everything is not always about color!!!!! Look where we are living at, in the USA. People from across the nation will probably give their all to live here.
I'm not gonna jump to conclusions and say TMZ's racist, and I'm black myself. HOWEVER, its not right that black people are constantly made fun of in the media, and what TMZ wrote and posted was just a reflection of this ridicule. So while they were exercising their constitutional rights to freedom of the press, they are not evil or malicious, they're just stupid, ignorant fools. And i was raised to believe tht u don't pay attention to fools. TMZ's comments were probly written by a non-black writer, probly white, who says "I'm NOT a racist, I have black friends" or some other garbage like this.
I don't know why any of the black ppl reading this are surprised ... I'm not even American, i'm black still, and I'm totally not shocked by this.
Alright TMZ you have some nerve to even talk trash about the BET awards these artist have carried themselves in a manner none of your white fashion gurus could even imagine. It makes me laugh that people can take what we as black people have been doing for years, bite our style of clothes, music and culture, then have the nerve to try to downgrade us. Ya'll really lost your mind. I am sick of ya'll fake ass IMUS'S.Just come out of the closet with your KKK hoodys on and stop trying to hide behide laptops and radio show. Whats funny to me is that if skanky ass paris wore any of these outfits it would be hot, but ya'll just hatin', ya'll will be sportin' these out fits in a couple months. All black people are always ahead of their time, and suga don't hate because our thick women can move. and don't just sit on the couch. Remember we have style, grace, pose, and are always the best at what we do! So for real QUIT HATIN'. oh yeah stop tryin to wear weave it ain't cute

"Why do the black people always have to turn everything freakin thing into a race issue? I really don't understand it. Maybe someone can explain?"
Probably because most issues in society have unlining elements of it based on the institutionalization of racism in this society. TMZ's assessment of the fashions of this Black awards show is over the top critical across the board, even if I do agree with some of the assessments. There was no attempt to point out the celebs who were dressed very well and the comment about Jennifer Holliday was downright mean and hostile. I took it generally as a put down of BET in general, especially with the comment about Thicke not being the first white artist to win a BET award and that it would take the non-disputable talent of Celine Dion to make it happen. Yeah, the TMZ are seething with racism.

well, all i have to say is that the comments gfiven were alot more negative than other commnents about say britney and the like who as i saw is deemed hot in one gallery of her perfomance. its is not about the critiquing, its about how you have critiqued. too many of your comments are making fun in a stereotypical way. i saw much different pictures on concrete loop, more balances i believe.
TMz this gallery is abit off. its offensive in that subtle way that someone who is born white will nevre get.
I just have 2 say some of the clothes were a bit wrong (is the word I'll use) I have seen better fashion days. As far as TMZ goes, they O.K with me. (Do yo job) It's a joke people, while some may not find it funny. It is a joke. But I love Beyonce and I really didn't like the comment about the RoBoHO (Didn't find that all that funny, but that's my opinion) That part about waiting for Celine album to drop was pretty good (She would have a better chance at actually winning).
OK, listen! Now everyone is saying that TMZ is racist, that is a joke. For one why are you on this website they talk that way about everyone no matter what race they are. For two just because they are saying something bad it has to be racist. GET OVER IT LOOK AT WHAT YEAR WE ARE IN. Now don't get me wrong i a not racist at all. I am white and i have been with my boyfriend for 7 years.

Why are you hating on the BET Everyone you spoke of looked good did a good job To make negative comments about a positive evening. Maybe it is just that your staff, your crew and your CEOs have serious mental issues. Well, you really need to get over the fact that black People/African Americans have it going on BOTTOM LINE did you know A FACT that Black people are the only ethnic group in the world who has educated themselves in a 30 year period of time. And if it was not for the mass maltreatment of Blacks being forced into slavery giving the majority a 248 year head start and all by way of ammunition/threat This county would have been a much better place because Black people don't hate Its a learned behavior WE have developed from negative people such as yourself. And besides The Lord and Savior Jesus Christ loves everyone so who shall we fear that is against us
TMZ YOU REALLY SUCK

TMZ should be ashame of itself, for writing such a disgusting segment. the fool who wrote this should be fired, it is obvious he or she, better yet IT has serious issue with blacks. i am not suprised when you have that fool as chief editor. what a waste of server space.
i am highly offended at the manner in which a white owned website and company like tmz or TIME WARNER, could let such tacky comments be made about african american women, and even men! how dare you criticize US for not dressing like you, and even better still not letting vulgar people like Sarah Silvermen host OUR awards showing. Time Warner better check themselves!
I just reviewed the comments above regarding the MTV movie awards fashion. There were no references to race because most of those reviewed were white. The descriptions above do seem racist when compared to the comments made regarding the MTV award fashions.
Also I would rather be subjected to bad fashion than the blatant vulgarity exhibited by Sarah Silverman in her opening monologue at the MTV movie awards.
