For those defending tattoos, tell me this: how are those things going to look in 20 years? 50 years? Like ?#$!@ that's how. Get a grip. Tattoos are for emotionally needy people. For the moment they satisfy some odd attention urge, but 20 years later the regret is in high gear. Idiots.

Eve's tats are the best! Although that wasn't the most flattering shot.

To the moron up there that said we just got tattoos for attention...none of my tats are visible while I'm clothed. How does that draw any attention?

Tattoo's are beautiful. When done well. I personally have quite a few. I AM married to a tattoo artist, who is an incredible artist, out of Seattle. Amazing. When they are done right, they are ART. Beautiful peices of art, with skin being the artist' canvas. This is NOT the fifties anymore. Get with the time, adn step into reality. Tattoos are this generation. It's a form of expression. When you get a pick and stick, you're not expressing your individuality. You're representing a flash company that drew the tat for you. I personally have one, which was my first, that I regret. But, it's there. So, to those thinking about ink, think long and hard about what you want, and do some research about the artist you go to. There are alot of shady tattooist's out there, who are all about the money. Make your selection with education, because they are permanent. Just some ink education. =D

HA HA HA...all you with ink....just a hideous way to "try" and draw attention to your lonely selves! NUFF SAID! Posted at 11:26AM on January 25th 2008 by TheOtherShannon Trying to draw attention to our "lonely" selves? Puh-lease. I'm not doing it for attention. I'm not doing for it for "street cred", or any of that other crap the small minded population thinks tattoos are for. I get so sick and tired of people who refuse to open their minds and see something for what it really is. It's ART. And my body is the canvas. Deal with it. You probably walk around with your Chanel glasses, Abercrombie clothes, and Coach purse huh? Yeah, you have alot of room to be judging someone. Give me a break. Stop judging and get off your high horse. This isn't the 50's anymore.

What about mothers who get their children's names' tattooed, or memorial tattoos? Do you think they are doing it for 'street cred' or attention? Really, you sound like someone who's very small minded spouting off about something you don't understand. Or maybe you're insecure and couldn't handle owning a tattoo and expressing what it means to you. or you don't have anything or anyone in your life worth the commitment of a tattoo. very sad.

Another generalised unintelligent stab at the inked population. Lonely? It's so sad. I feel sorry for how closed you are to reality.

insecure wannabes? haha wanna be what? a person who does what they want? oh no! don't like ink? don't get any. i think you have to be pretty secure to get something permanently put on your body. people should probably think before they make really inane comments about something they obviously don't know anything about.

I love all the people defending their tattoo's. I personally love them, I have seven. And it's not for street cred. There's no such thing in Edmonton, Alberta! The art is beautiful, the colours are vibrant. We have many clients who are aged and their tattoo's still look great, because they've taken care of them. Sceptisism is better kept unto itself.

I have 5 tattoos, and no one else sees them but me. I didn't get them for "street cred". That's a laughable idea when applied to me and many others. Tattoos if well thought out are extremely personal and meaningful. There are excellent examples of beautiful, artistic renderings whose medium happens to be skin created by true artists and there are really bad, thoughtless, ill-conceived tattoos by hack tattooers. And as with anything, they aren't for everyone. It's just a shame that people are judged on something so trivial. And to the person mentioning the dogs, what a nonsensical comment. My husband has 17 tattoos on various parts of his body and dogs love him. We're both considered upper middle class americans, with professional jobs, so to classify everyone with tattoos in one fell swoop just shows prejudice and ignorance on your part.

Oh, and by the way. I'm not insecure. I'm not a wannabe. And my tattoos are far from "dark blue spots" on me. They are vivid colors and great designs. Wait, that sounds like art to me. And we choose to get tattoos on our bodies because we EXPRESSING OUR OWN ART FORM. Our INDIVIDUALITY. How hard is that for people grasp? And sure, they may look gross when I'm old, but so would the rest of my body from being wrinkling and sagging. It makes no difference. Just open your minds a tad bit and realize that this is not just a trend. It's beautiful, and it's here to stay. Deal with it.
