Like Pee Wee and B but they were not Marines. R. Lee Ermey, Ted Williams, Gene Hackman, George C. Scott, Lee Marvin, Ed McMahon, Harvey Keitel, and Brian Dennehy. They were Marines.
Neither Paul Reubens nor Bea Arthur served,.. In fact youtube has an interview with Bea Arthur from 2008, where she is asked this very question (5:30 mark) She said it isn't true:

After extensive reading, googling, searching I cannot find a link to his NPR interview in which they go over virtually his entire life and this service isn't mentioned.. I'm surprised these weren't "fact checked" a bit more..

Ginna: You are right. But it would take a while to compile a list of the Golden Age stars who served...there were far too many...I think TMZ was just trying to give some good examples :) These men and women (I had NO idea about Bea Arthur!) were definitely a class above anything we have today, that's for sure. I don't see Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise, Leo, etc ad nauseum, deferring their careers to serve their country. And the Michael Moore types who can only criticize it and then give help to other nations besides their own just disgust me. The Pat Tillman's are definitely a rare breed and seem to be the exception anymore. Now having said that, I think there are some very civic-minded celebs out there who I think try to make up for what they can't do with their pocketbooks: Sandra Bullock, David Spade, the aforementioned Pitt, and several others at least give when tragedy strikes, etc and are good to many charities, too. That's something at least.
I agree with resqmommy; there don't seem to be any honorable younger people anymore. Just a bunch of mouthy "celebrities" willing to *itch, moan and groan about what they think should be done. God forbid any actually live in the real world first. My husband is retired AF and son is active Navy. It's not for everybody, but I think it would do some a world of good to at least serve 4 years.
Rant over...

Elvis 'served' in the army... pfft... he served with my grandfather, who stated Elvis just 'showed up for pictures'.

Paul Reubens a Marine? Fact check please. I don't think he was anything more than an honorary Marine for some charity work.

Tyrone Power! He wasn't quite Elvis, but it was a big deal when he went off to war. Geez! I assumed he'd be there.
