2. umm. what is so bad about these pictures I dont get it? Just a young girl having a bit of fun, big deal.

3. I didn't realize that it became a sport to fish for photos and nit-pick for reasons to get a pageant titleholder in trouble. Elyse is allowed to make decisions just as well as any of you are. Surely you people realized that the legal drinking age is 21. At least she's drinking legally. It's not like any of you haven't flashed hand-gestures before. Nobody in this world is perfect. And before you preach about how she isn't "being a role model", stop the hypocracy with the negative trash-talk about pageants. And what a role-model these people are being, by encouraging intolerance towards other sexualities. It doesn't make sense, and you're not proving a point.

4. OMG! Look at non-issue PG-13 pics! Her career is over! (rolling eyes)

5. I get such a laugh when I think of all these stupid pageants. Everything is such BS. These women go up on stage and pretend to be so wholesome and good. Pageants promote lies and the women competing in them are fake. Now Miss Umemoto is "blaming her seedy friends". I don't see any of her friends forcing her to act like a drunk. She's doing all that herself. Maybe she should do the honorable thing, take responsibility for what she's doing in the pictures and give up her crown. The bottom line is that she wants to represent her state and her nation on the public stage and her behavior (although probably innocent fun) is innapropriate and reflects poorly not just on her, but on everyone she represents through her position as Miss Washington.

6. If she were my daughter, I would want to ground her for an extended period. Comments here like "What's the big deal, she a typical girl having fun" reflect either youth, or those who don’t understand what the pageants (used to?) stand for. If one wants to play the game for the premiums one can gain, one needs to not only talk the talk, but walk the walk. I don't see any college scholarships arriving in her mailbox anytime soon. She may be young, but to me, her behavior reflects a complete lack of class. It would still be possible to pull if off if one is not so stupid as to have documented proof of any errors in judgment posted throughout the universe... Needless to say, for her to behave this way after the circumstances that allowed her to slip into the first spot, tells me she just doesn't get it. Bet she doesn't win first place, or Miss Congeniality! Will appropriate role models for young girls, step forward, and exhibit what true empowerment looks like - Please!?

7. So having them in swimwear on stage is seen as wrong but pictures like this is ok? Seriously though I don't think she is guilty of anything except being guility of stupidity. Why would she take these photos (with her crown on!) and let others have access to them? I have no clue what rules she agreed to follow to be Miss Washington but if she broke them then she should deal with the consequences. Oh and to the assclowns mentioning politics the difference is the public elected them despite knowing about their past. I am fairly sure the public did not elect Miss Washington.

8. I have to agree with JB. Miss America does have standards for you to uphold, if you are not going to take them seriousy then you should not compete. There are other women out there who work hard there whole life to be the role models that America SO desperately needs. They have one goal and the is to be Miss America, to better educate themselves and to serve the public. These girls should know better, just look at Vanessa Williams, Tara(Miss Universe). The world is watching and unfortunately alot of them are children. We should all be accountable for our actions. Yes, we all do mess up but because your young is no excuse. There should be no excuses for any age. We should all start with ourselves.

10. so goes the world, wilder and less constrained in the appetites and uncleanness of the flesh.how the world needs jesus to anchor the soul in truth and whats is truly right[righteousness];she's one step closer to hell ,in full approval of all the others on the same path ...tis ashame for a wasted soul ,and the pain it causes God to see ...

11. Unbelievable. In today's world you have to be so careful because every 9 year old has a cell phone camera. I feel sorry for the kid. I remember a couple of years back a picture surfaced on You-Tube of an 18 year old kid from my hometown holding a beer can at a party. There were all kinds of unfortunate repercussions that affected this kid's life ( he was a star athlete and son of a prominent community leader) The picture was posted by a parent of a student from a rival high school. Anyways , the hypocrites who condemned him were some of the biggest partyers from the 70's this town has produced. I remember one in particular who used to drink beer out in the student parking lot after baseball practice.

12. Who cares?? let her have fun.. she's just gettin drunk like the rest of us. it isn't like shes snorting coke or it's a sex video

13. Good to see her having "fun", I'm sure she is the perfect example person the state wanted to represent them and what parents to every girl who wants to be Miss Washington/America want, cause she's not doing anything illegal just acting like another drunk college girl. What to go, you made your state PROUD!!!
Posted at 1:21AM on July 12th 2008 by Saber
14. Wow....this is ridiculous. She's not doing anything illegal, so what's the big deal? If you want these people to be the perfect role model for your children, look at yourself first! YOU have the most influence on your children. Yet, here you are talking #?!$@ about this girl and her hand gestures, like you've never flipped the bird. Get a life! Oh, and for all of you turning this into a "gay" thing b/c of her sexual references, yeah, you're teaching your children intolerance and that its not right to be who you are and who makes yourself happy. Get the hell over it! What if you saw your child making hand gestures like this? Are you going to talk #@!$? about them too? C'mon people! Get real! Its not like this woman is holding a gun to someone, or doing drugs. There are more important things in this world to throw a fit about than someone's hand gestures. Quit being stupid, you're children are watching you.

15. These are just typical "having fun" type pictures, and there's nothing wrong with them on their own. It is however, incredibly stupid for someone involved in beauty pageants who apparently takes them rather seriously to allow themselves to be photographed doing these kinds of things. Sure it's a double standard that is lame and unfair, but you have to know that you will be held to this standard and live accordingly. As for the idiot saying this is why 9/11 happened, please pull your head out of your ass. What are you doing on tmz.com anyways? SHAAAME!!!
