1. I have it from a reliable source that Gary was in a hurry to get home and show Mary Ann his new shorts. So taking that into consideration, I say cut the guy some slack. Anyone that has the guts to wear those shorts in 2007 needs a great and a makeover... S

2. He should go to jail. He was driving drunk and luckily he didn't kill anyone. He should be financially responsible for all of the injuries and damage that he caused. I know he was once a television staple with his Anita Bryant-like wife Mary Ann Mobly BUT he broke the law and should pay. Geez.... Paris Hilton went to jail for a lesser charge.... I just hope this wasn't just an act to get some publicity.... I know that sounds awful but I wouldn't put it past ANYONE living in LA. Y'now the 15 secs of fame etc. I also think that anyone under age 30 doesn't know who he is anyway so....I'll just crash my car and I'll be in the limelight again.

3. Apart from what you get in this news, you can be damn sure about one thing in all these drunk driving incidents including this TV legend Gary Collins. All these people have been consuming high-alcohol drinks licensed by the alcohol authorities in the name of ‘Standard Alcohol Drinks’ (SADs), which are extremely dangerous for human consumption. These alcohol drinks (most popular is the beer that contains around 5% alcohol) can make people to effortlessly consume very high or excessive amounts of alcohol unwittingly over the limit and without warning make them extremely drunk. In general two or three times more BAC than its stipulated limit. Finally I ask Gary Collins to fight back! You have noting to loose but your DUI shackles. For more, check it in “DUI Drunk Driving Root-Cause” blog. < http://alcohol-research-misconduct.blogspot.com/>

8. Wow, you hateful types...hmmph. Celebrity or not, the guy is liable and will have a price to pay. It happens to people whether drinking or not. While drinking, why not have a driver designated? That way you can just let the night rip safely.

9. Gary Collins is just another creepy phony. Glad he got nailed! Now I hope they get him for false advertising that targets and rips off the elderly. He has no ethics. KARMA, Gary, KARMA!

10. For you insensative jerks the old man has a name and a family and friends and an excellent driving record. And I am sure that those of you defending another celebrity would think otherwise if it had been your parent, child, or spouse that this drunken idiot ran into. The drunkard Gary Collins, if he hadn't been speeding and driving drunk may have avoided the accident altogether. Gary Collins is a drunk, been arrrested for it before and should spend some good sober up time behind bars. There is no excuse for driving drunk and as such is 100% culpable for the accident.

11. I don't understand why these celebrities with so much money do not have a limo to drive them around? I'm sure they could pay someone to drive them around.

12. I remember meeting Gary a few years back when I worked with him at one of the networks. I recall he was a nice fellow but even at that time had a drinking problen. I would say it's a good thing he didn't kill anyone and now will be given treatment. As for his fault or not, who cares--he was drunk and will need to do his time and probably pay a fine.

13. Come on, everything. Cut him some slack. He was on his way from a taping of one of his get-rich-quick informercials. By the way, the name of the show that he hosted in the 80's was Hour Magazine which was produced by the old Group W (Westinghouse) Broadcasting.

14. I read somewhere that an older man failed to yield the right-of-way to Gary Collins and Gary hit him. It was only after that was determined to have been what happened, that the police noticed that Mr. Collins had been drinking. True Mr. Collins should not have been drinking, but the initial cause of the accident was not Mr. Collins' fault!
