  • 1. Get over it. Dolly's definitely the star and these little people are struggling to find their voice in hers and it's not happening. Whitney tried and it was the easiest million dolly ever made. No one else ever will. Keep trying American Idol!!!

  • 2. The best thing about the whole Dolly night...was Dolly Parton herself. They should have just kicked off the idols and made it 100% Dolly night. She, truly, is an Idol.

  • 3. As a personal big fan of Dolly, we grew up listening to her music... and for the first time last night I couldn't watch Idol. It was in my opinon HORRIBLE! No one done a very good job at all. They are too far in to start putting it on cruise control now.

  • 8. Wikipedia states about "I Will Always Love You": Dolly Parton wrote the song in 1973 and it was released a year later, having been produced by Bob Ferguson. She has told numerous interviewers over the years that she wrote it for her one-time partner and mentor Porter Wagoner, with whom she was having a business splitting at the time. Recorded on June 17, 1973 in RCA's Studio "B" in Nashville, the song was included on Parton's album Jolene, and was released as a follow-up single, after the Country chart-topping success of the title track, in April 1974 (see 1974 in music). The single reached number one on the Billboard Country Singles chart a month later, but had just modest success on the pop charts. The lyrics express a bittersweet and poignant ode to an ex-lover, and are delivered with Parton's twang.

  • 9. I'm not really fimilar with country music but the only song that I know is "I'll Alway's Love You" & that was by Whitney Houston. I agree with whoever said that Syesha needs to stop with the diva ballads. Her voice isn't stron enough to pull it off & she better be crossing her fingers for tonight.

  • 12. i'm so excited for tonight! can't wait to see jason castro and david cook. i bet they are both going to have great performances. brook should be good too. i wonder how kristy lee crap...i mean cook will do. :/

  • 13. "I Will Always Love You" was written so many years ago by Dolly with Porter Waggoner in mind. (After she had left him and went out on her own) It was written for HER to sing, doubt if Whitney or others who've sung it were even born then.

  • 14. I really wanted someone to sing Me and LIttle Andy and i wanted Brooke to sing He's Alive. She would have blown that one away.

  • 15. "I Will Always Love You" was not "tailor made" for Whitney Houston, as another poster stated. It was a song Dolly sang in the musical The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas back in 1982. Good flick!
