  • 16. Wow, Tam! Are you implying that Micheal Phelps couldn't still be a role model for your son if he was Gay? Gay and Lesbian athletes are in every sport you can imagine. The stupidity and bigotry of a homophobic society keeps most of them in the closet. Greg Louganis won Olympic Silver at the age of sixteen at his first Olympics and then went on to win four Olympic Gold Medals in diving. Diver Matthew Mitcham, the openly gay male athlete in the Beijing Olympics, who won Olympic Gold in the 10m platform. Mitcham is the first Aussie to win diving gold since 1924, So, if gay kids growing up can have straight role models, then gay role models, can be just as worthy of admiration to straight kids as to gay kids. It shouldn’t make any damn difference at all to a fair-minded person. ~ Bud Evans - rainfish2000.blogspot.com

  • 17. Wow, Tam! Are you implying that Micheal Phelps couldn't still be a role model for your son if he was Gay? And yes, there are plenty of Gay swimmers and track stars and football players and Gay and Lesbian athletes in every sport you can imagine. The stupidity and bigotry of a homophobic society keeps most of them in the closet. As far as gay Olympic gold medallists in the aquatic sports, which you seem to forget Greg Louganis? He won Olympic Silver at the age of sixteen at his first Olympics and then went on to win four Olympic Gold Medals in diving. Diver Matthew Mitcham, the openly gay male athlete in the Beijing Olympics, who won Olympic Gold in the 10m platform. • 18. Izzy...My comment really wasn't meant as criticism. I just thought you had your facts mixed up. True, I was quoting a newspaper, but you're also quoting an off-the-cuff comment by an NBC reporter...so...you know, let's gets some perspective. You're doing pretty much the same thing. Also, someone could interpret "home" as Baltimore in general. Back to the Baltimore Sun, I didn't say he announced anything to the newspaper himself. It was his mother who told the newspaper that Phelps bought a house before telling her. The article was mostly an interview with Debbie Phelps (http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/olympics/bal-sp.maese01aug01,0,1090163.column). Notice her quote: "[Michael] just called one day," she says, "and told me, 'I'm buying a house in Fells Point.' I said, 'What? You didn't let me help?' He said, 'Don't worry, you'll love it.'" ...But feel free to still doubt the source. I mean, after all, it's just his mom.

  • 19. I recently read an article online where his mom says he bought the condo. He's definitely not moving back in with her.

  • 20. Can't Believe I'm Posting On TMZ. . .isnt kind of funny how now a days we actually would rather beleive what some stupid newspaper writes then the actuall person they are writing about says?? i heard and saw him say "im moving back home..." more then once....which even the nbc reporter understood it to be his mom's house when he said "im sure mom is going to be happy to be doing his laundry again!"...and just because he's young with $ he cant be close to his mom and want to spend time w/her? Why NOT?? P.S.Why would he tell a newspaper he was buying a million dollar house before he told his mom?

  • 21. What a nice place for a deserving young man to live. He and his mom and sisters will have fun furnishing his nice new place. All you jealous, evil posters need to step away from your computers and get a real life. There is nothing about Michael that even hints of him being more interested in males than females, not that there would be anything wrong with that, anyway, you bunch of numbskulls. Thanks for representing the US and making us so proud, Michael and enjoy your new home!

  • 22. All-caps guy-- Most of your info is incorrect. He WAS training in Michigan for the last 4 years. But he and his coach are now moving back to North Baltimore Aquatic Club (his coach was named the new CEO a few months ago). He never said he was going to live with his mother again. He's 23! And rich! Who would do that? He bought his new place in Baltimore before even telling his mother he was moving back, according to the Baltimore Sun which tracked his every movement since he was a kid. Btw, not that it matters, but not gay. Do a little digging. The girlfriend's name and photos of them together are out there. And his reputation for years clearly indicates he is straight.

  • 23. Please keep in mind this isn't his actual condo. It's just photos taken from the company's website. He hasn't even moved in yet, so it's definitely not this nicely furnished yet!

  • 24. Michael Phelps is more than likely gay. If you listen to how he responds to questions regarding his personal relationships, he always responds gender neutral and never acknowleges females as potential mates. Get over your heterosexual fantasies for the man and let him live his personal life as a gay man.

  • 25. dude.. look... i am gay... not the kind of gay that thinks that every1 is gay.. if u ask me id say that phelps is gay but after all who gives a ?#!@$ is that ur business? get a life ppl

  • 26. Truly none of you have ever been to Baltimore. Some of you sound scared to death to even talk of Baltimore. If you're scared to leave your house then you're just weak and lame...don't blame the city or the county because you look like an easy target! Some people are trying to stick their chest out and act like experts when they sound simply stupid! You are only thinking about Baltimore because TMZ has prompted you to do so. I think the people jealous of him and his success might be taking a little back door.

  • 27. Haters, Micheal Phelps is not gay, He's the best swimmer in the world. Young guys should not be pegged as gay just because they hang out with other young men who are also great swimmers ( and also not gay). How many gay swimmers do you know? Michael is my son's age, and a great role model for all America's youth. I admire the great job his mother did raising him as a single parent. Michael deserves all the endorsements and $$$$ that he receives. I hope he and his dog enjoy.

  • 28. Gorgeous place that suits a well deserving champion. My only question - can you see the Domino Sugar sign from his balcony? Ahhh...I miss MD, all the way from NH!

  • 29. Michael is not gay people, get real! I have any idea why don't you jealous haters get up from the computer and do something great like Michael did and they we can praise you too. He is awesome and I am sooo proud of him. He worked hard for this and it is so sad that some people have to bring steroids into this. He is not doped.

  • 30. I REALLY DONT THINK HE ACTUALLY BOUGHT THIS PLACE...HE HIM SELF TOLD THE PRESS THAT HE'S MOVING BACK TO HIS MOM'S PLACE TO REST AND SPEND TIME WITH HER THEN IN FEB. HE'S GOING TO START TRAINING AGAIN FOR THE NEXT OLYMPICS! SO WHY WOULD HE BUY A PLACE TO JUST SPEND 6MONTHS IN? ONCE HE GOES BACK TO MICHIGAN FOR TRAINING HES NOT GOING BACK TO BALTIMORE...HE TRAINS 7DAYS A WEEK 365DAYS A YEAR...SO I THINK ITS HIGHLY UNLIKELY THAT HE ACTUALLY BUY THAT PLACE.
