3. Early photos are too cold and modern looking for The White House. Tacky. Later photos are ward and more in keeping with what the theme should be.

4. I think his work is fine-simple, tasteful. I think they could save tax$-called the crew at Extreme Makeover (especially like to see them do the girl's rooms) or HGTV & have them re-decorate :) lol on the other hand, all the other 1st lady's had chance to re-decorate, why not Michele? :)

6. I'm sorry, but you just can't decorate THE White House like a NY loft! Some of you need to check yourselves.

7. Am I the only one on the planet who believes that for their time period and their personal age, Jacqueline Kennedy, Nancy Reagan...and even Laura Bush all out-dressed this new First Lady? Hmm.

8. If anyone had asked, and, of course, no one did, but I would say my tax dollars are much better spent on sending the necessary provisions to our troops who are fighting to protect all Americans and their freedoms. I so do not care whether or not the White House decor reflects Michelle Obama's taste, but I care very much whether or not each and every troop has the proper protective gear. Oh, perhaps I misspoke --- is this designer doing all his work pro bono and is Michelle breaking open her piggy bank to buy fabrics, art, etc.?

9. Well, I do love the comments! To the folks who keep repeating (mindlessly) this mantra of "NY is King, keep it simple, modern, uncluttered, edgy:" You are the the same people whose closets are full of boring, unimaginative, all-black uniforms...which you gladly wear all day, everyday. Needless to say, the same frequently applies to your home decor.

10. I'm an interior design fanatic and observe the work of many designers. I'm sure Mr. Smith is an excellent designer. But the samples of his work they are showing here is very outdated and some of it a little hideous. Is this his work from circa 1980?

11. Taste is subjective, so not everyone will like all of his work. The important thing is that each of his clients is happy with the work that he does for them. I agree with the other comments about some rooms being a little too cluttered. I personally like simple, clean lines with a modern edge.

12. Well, they seem a bit dated. Maybe the pics are of jobs circa 1982-1995? The whole portfolio runs kinda drab, washed-out. Dare I say boring? Well, if he really does listen to the clients, I think that's refreshing on one level. However, if he isn't bold or confident enough to go with a 70/30 (or maybe even 60/40) mix of his personal stamp/the client's taste, I wouldn't have much respect for him. To be frank.

13. Is he decorating this for free? Or is this yet another example of my tax dollars going to waste?

14. The man certainly has experience. He seems to follow the wishes of his clients. For my taste, most of his work is too cluttered. I would like to see photo's of his own home.

15. He has great taste, he's as good as it gets. All the pictures are also clients wishes, which he also has to observe. I know him well, he will not disappoint. He makes a very livable house. the Obamas, as we now know, are no dummies
