31. He has great taste, he's as good as it gets. All the pictures are also clients wishes, which he also has to observe.
I know him well, he will not disappoint.
He makes a very livable house.
the Obamas, as we now know, are no dummies
33. California light and space mixed with pale pastels won't work in DC, especially with a woman with such strong colors in her choice of clothing.
Those photos leave me cold.
37. I live in Los Angeleles and happen to know Michael Smith professionally and he is ungodly talented. The work shown is a small portion of what he can do. He is traditionalist with a twist and is known for his unbelievable eye - his rooms look very lived in. He can mix old with new, inexpensive with lux. The White will be gorgeous. I am proud of him and so is Los Angeles. Fantastic work Michael. The IKEA comment???? I am shocked that someone even made that comment! Not even close! Michael shops world-wide for antiques and alot of it is purchased through trade showrooms or a part of his own line of furniture, fabrics, etc - . People who are ignorant to interior design should not even comment frankly.
38. It is incredible how people are on the Obamas like roaches on a food. WOW! I have not every had such an intimate knowledge of the personal and family choices of any president. For all I care he could paint the white house black as long as he does his job. Maybe everyone should focus a little more on the betterment and improvement of yourselves and your family lives instead of being so friggin deep into others lives. I mean really, how does the decoration of someones personal space affect you?
39. Not MY style but wouldn't refuse it for free. All seems a little too cramped. Sitting areas don't have much leg room and there is a little too much detail. Less is more. But that's just my opinion. I won't be visiting the O's so id doesn't matter what I think!
41. Its funny how so many people are saying this is horrible! These interiors are exceptionally beautiful!! I'd like to see a picture of what their homes look like if they think this is bad. Everyone has an opinion when they are just an anonymous voice on the internet. You should have to back up your comments by posting a picture of where you live. boo. Hello Fred Meyer carpet and big screen tvs!!!

34. Some of it's nice, but most looks like he's either color-blind or my grandmother. A lot of clutter. Clutter is not "lived-in," it's messy.

42. Comfy! Not risky or cutting-edge. Just right for a growing family, most of whom are not the President.

43. If I were fortunate enough to have Michael Smith designing my home, I'd be planning to spend a lot of time in the kitchen and the bathroom.
