FYI - In FL you do not get a ticket if your passenger is not wearing their seatbelt unless they are UNDER 18.
"If a passenger under 18 violates this law, the driver will be held responsible. After that age, each passenger is held accountable. Violators will be fined at least $30 for the offense, plus court costs."
Nick was/is an idiot ... but John had personal and legal responsibility to put on his own seatbelt.
I'm not attacking somebody who can't defend themselves (so don't start with that) ... it's a simple fact of law.
It is sad to see that Nick shows no emotion towards the circumstance he put himself and his friend in. It is sad to know that the person who was supposed to be your friend could care less about how you are at this moment. I hope that John gets better and takes every penny that they could possibly take from the Hogan family.
I think that even the mom (fake...fake...fake...) has plenty to do with how her son is acting. What a mom; shouldnot she be giving her son good advice and also having her son at his friends side at least a couple of times a week. I know life goes on, but man John can' continue his life at this moment, why should it be so easy for Nick to continue living life so easily after all the heartache and pain you have caused to this family.
In the last twelve months, Nick has been cited four times for extreme speeding and has four points on his license as a result. He was clocked at 115 mph in a 70 mph zone, 106 mph in a 70 mph zone, 57 mph in a 30 mph zone, the most recent, on August 10th, 16 days before his massive accident, Bollea was clocked doing 82 mph in a 45 mph construction zone while workers were present.” He was fined $1,000.
ANYONE ELSE SEE A PATTERN HERE? Throw this kid in jail and LOSE the key!

People do make mistakes, but he should have to pay for the racing part of it. He is at fault to an extent for what happen to his friend. He chose to speed and his friend chose not to wear his seatbelt. If he was a frequent traffic offender then he should get the max sentence, if this is his first offence he should get a lighter sentence. Some of you people need to think before you write some of the things you write. You don't know anything about the family of Nick or the other kid. You think you can judge Nick because of what you saw on t.v. Those of you making that judgement need to remember just because it says "Reality Show" doesn't make it real. They have to act a certain way to keep you watching.

If your passenger isn't wearing a seatbelt YOU, THE DRIVER, gets the ticket, not the passenger. His friend may have chosen to not wear a seatbelt but Nick is the one who chose to turn the ignition with a passenger who was not buckled in and he was the one who chose to drag race. Both things are punishable to the DRIVER not the passenger. The law is the law and Nick is the one who broke it.
Never have been a fan of the self-serving Hulk and he managed to create a couple of self-involved, creepy kids that obviously think they are above the law. I am not surprised to see the handicapped tag - again, he thinks rules and laws dont apply to him. Not only do I hope they throw the (law) book at him and max him out, I hope karma kicks his ass hard.
I can't believe someone was stupid enough to get into a car, especially with someone known to race and drive "fast", and not put on a seatbelt. This was Nick's friend, he knew what Nick does, so why did he not wear a seat belt. I think it's beyond wrong to sue over their kids mistake. I hope though that Nick gets punished severely because street racing is insanely dangerous and he needs a reality check.
the airbags wouldn't have deployed since the back of the car hit the tree. if they would have went head on into the tree the passenger may have had a better chance of not being injured so badly even though he didn't have his seat belt on. Since they hit the tree in the back he had no chance, head into the windshield.

Nick Hogan is a POS. I hope the family of the injured guy sues the pants off the Hogan's. Hulk has a big head and it has obviously rubbed off on his son. NO wonder after watching a couple of episodes of their pathetic "reality show" The really sad part is that Nick doesn't even seem to feel bad. I wonder how many times he has been to visit his buddy in the hospital. I think that should be part of his sentence. Sit at the hospital 12 hours a day until he comes out of the coma!
