1. I believe nick should be held responsible due to the fact he was driving wrecklessly to begin with! Not just because he may have been intoxicated. He had other peoples lives in his hands not just his passenger but other innocent people on the road. The fact that their both not dead is a medical mystery!! Nick does need to be punished by the law however, he also needs to understand the extent of damage he has done to this young man and his family! I hope this man recovers, but I also know what damage this type of accident can do to the brain and its not a very good outcome. I feel horrible for the family. They have been put in a very difficult situation. I hope the best for them in their recovery from this tragic accident.

2. Nick is a loser and probley always has been. He is definately in the wrong! No wonder his family broke up. Lock his stupid ass up IMMEDIATELY!!!! Bless the boy in the coma though, and nick and the Hogan crew should have made a public apology. Atleast publicly enknowledge the accident shithead!

3. This kid NICK should be in jail for at least 20 years! If he gets off with just a fine, that'll be the end of the justice system. How he can even show his face in public is disgusting! I hope he gets the maximum penalty possible! I don't even know how he can even live with himself! He may as well have killed his best friend......it's that bad.

4. Little Nickie is a retarded shrimp that couldn't drive a go-cart due to his low IQ.

5. Most of what is being said is speculation. As far as "assuming" John was "encouraging" Nick to speed is irrelevant and pointless. The whole seatbelt issue is logical, BUT no one knows if it would have made things better or worse. The seatbelt would NOT have prevented the accident! The whole point of the matter is a 17 yr old was under the influence of alcohol, speeding, driving recklessly and was unable to maintain control of the car. End result is...Nick is liable for the accident and his passenger. With all his other traffic violations along with the accident, Nick should be punished close to the maximum sentence. If he gets a slap on the wrist....he learns NOTHING!!! If his parents can't teach him anything perhaps jail time will! Hogans/Bolleas DON'T know BEST!!(none of them!)

6. Oh, it also appears this car had a manual transmission. Nick is rather notorious (and often teased) for not being able to drive stick; in fact there is a (hilarious) youtube vid circulating showing him attempting to drive a stick (not this car) and repeatedly stalling it/riding the clutch etc. This kid should have been driving something he can handle, like an electric golf cart.

7. Anyone else notice the "handicapped" parking spot hang tag in one of the photos? Terrible driver, and lazy to boot.

8. I hope the judge throws the book at him. It would be a true injustice if Nick walks away from the punishment that he deserves the same way he walked away from the crash that he caused!!

9. Why is everyone so hooked on the seat belt thing. My brother was in a car accident 8 years ago and died because of the seat belt. It held his body up and the roof caved in. No one can say what would of happened if he had it on.The issue is Nick should be punished. He was the drivet there for he is responsible for EVERYONE in the car. Plus it doesn't help Nick that he was drunk and racing. His poor friend is in the hospital in a comma and Nick is out living his life. If this were a plain jane person then their ace would be in jail. It's amazing how if you are loaded or a family member is loaded then the law doesn't appy to you. Bulls*#t.....he should man up and take his punishment like a man.

10. As a common person I am sick and tired of the rich people getting off the hook. If my son caused this accident he would be in jail and I would lose everything I have. Look him up. The other boy is someones son, brother and friend. Nick was showing off and he walked away while the parents of his buddy are sitting in a hospital watching their son try to regain some part of his life. Nick is still free, still rich , and still walking. LOCK HIM UP TODAY

11. You people are nuts. As a driver, you have the right to insist that someone puts on their seatbelt when they are in your car. YOU will get fined if pulled over and your passengers aren't wearing their seatbelts. And, if you are known to drive like a crazy idiot then you REALLY should insist. It is sad that the passenger appears to not have put on his seatbelt. But Nick could have insisted. And Nick was the one who decided to drive recklessly. Egged on or not. To say that Nick has suffered enough and learned his lesson is nuts. If this happened to your child, would you be saying that? I don't think so. Nick should be severely punished and definitely have to do some extended amount of time in jail. Not like the 80 plus minutes as some of the starlets of today have had to serve.

12. The pictures are sad, very sad. The thought of the one young man in a coma while little Nick Hogan ( Bolea ) runs around free bothers me a great deal. He should be doing time, hopefully he will do time. He is not famous, he is a nobody. His father was famous. Big Deal. Nick shouldnt ride on his daddys Boa he should take his punishment on his own like a man. Does he visit his friend? Does he even care. I have yet to hear one word from the Hogan family about what they are doing for the young man who's life is destroyed all on the account of their son drinking and racing. Whether or not John was wearing a seatbelt is not the issue. The issue is Nick should take responsibility for driving while intoxicated and racing, destroying his friends life. Amazing the young man survived Iraq but couldnt survive a ride in a car with Nick.. Go to jail Nick Do not pass Go Do not collect 200 dollars. I hope you rot.

14. Many of us have been in injury, non-injury, property damage and non-property damage accident, with and without seatbelts. I'll bet just about anyone reading this has never seen property damage like this, much less had it happen to them or someone they know. Driving wrecklessly, regardless of anyone 'egging' you on is wrong. Anyone in a car should have their seatbelt on not only for personal safety but so as not to become a projectile in the event of a hard stop or accident. The driver was not under control of the car and events prior to the accident, by default, so a complete lack of concern for himself and those around him. We don't need people like that driving cars on the road or in a closed environment. They're a safety hazard to us all.

15. Ok, for all we know the other kid could have been egging nick on, obviously he chose to get in the car with an inexperienced driver and NOT WEAR HIS SEAT BELT...That is of fault of his own. Clearly nick was wearing his since they had to cut it off him and the other kids is still like nothing ever happened. Nicks side or the passenger side of the car is completely mangled while the passenger side is pretty good looking compared to the drivers side. I was in a car accident with a motor cycle nearly 2 years ago and it was almost fatal for the motor cycle rider and caused $6000 in damage to our car but i was fine except for a sore knee, so how nick got away with scrapes and bruises is beyond me. But how the passenger was so critically injured was also beyond me. First he was not wearing a seat belt...that would be his own fault. Also, I wondered if the car actually rolled. I had heard that it skidded into a tree, but i wonder if it actually rolled???
