  Get a life people ! Meat is meat no matter if it is a horse or cow ! Personnaly i have not eaten horse meat but might try it some day .Japanese eat it as much as beef .Everyone has a preference in meat or veggies so eat as you please and don't judge others by you likes and dislikes , WHAT HAS THAT TO DO WITH A PERSONS ABILITY TO LEAD ?

  @Boricua I'm love animals. I still eat meat. What am I gonna do about it? Glue all of the pieces back together and breath life into it? No. But in America, it just doesn't seem "normal" to eat a horse, because they're used for physical work. Different animals have different uses. No one said that cows, chicken, or pigs were "less valuable". They're very valuable. They give us the correct nutrients we need. I understand that we have supplements now. But some people, myself included, like to get their protein and other important nutrients the old fashioned way. And you're telling everyone to look up information. Here's a little advice for you, if you're going to be "intelligent" by using words such as sanctimonious, learn grammar. And don't waste your time replying, I'm not going to be checking this anymore o_O

  @Sharmoore make sure you stop feeding your kids those wonderful marshmallows gummy worms , jello or any gelatin based products and using glue or non vegan makeup as they all contain horse bones in it, YUCK right? i bet u wont though hipocrita

  amazed how all this crazya..ignorants lambasting Huckabee are probably sitting woolfing down their triple bacon cheeseburger with a side of chicken nuggetts. i guess if you eat innocent and gentle chickens or pigs and cows that makes you a better person: NOT.........you can check out how "humanely" they slaughter your "less valuable" animals for your consumption by going online. have the balls to do it before you spew your sanctimonious crap. i love pigs and cows so im not voting for that cow eating obama either

  Oh Goodness - what comments I'm reading here. I think I've heard as I was growing up - "If you can't say something nice; then don't say anything." And that goes to all of YOU. be Americans, be NICE. Americans are great people - but according to these comments I've read so far, I wouldn't think that. STOP, PLEASE 'BE PROUD AMERICANS" and say nice things. or at leasy say "OH, Poor Guy".

  Good Grief.... in other parts of the world they think we are insane for eating cows!!! How do you think they slaughter hogs? Grab them by the hoof, string them up and jab them with a knife!!!! Ever been to a slaughter house? What are they doing to the chickens? Open your eyes and don't be so naive!!

  richardson will eat anything that's not moving and some that still is, if he can catch it with out moving too much. I guess we New Mexicans are stuck with him (at least for a while).

  Now the horses are shipped to Canada or Mexico but they still get slaughtered (and are still eaten) but instead of using “captive bolt” they just stab at the horse with a knife until they get lucky and severs the spinal cord or the horse bleeds to death. Reminds me of animal shelters "heart-sticking" to kill dogs. Maybe its a relief after being crammed into a trailer - without food, water & rest stops in the extreme heat/cold. There'll be plenty more horses looking for homes with the price of hay going up, and the availability of shavings going down - it'll get all those small time boarding places to sell to developers so there will be less land at higher prices. Imagine living one of those big houses overlooking the forest preserve - as long as the coyotes don't eat my designer dog. The humane way to dispose of unwanted horses is to pay the vet to put it down, then pay a knacker to haul it away - then those Europeans can't eat our horses. Does it really stop the problem?

  Be careful what you ask for.... Without getting into the vegetarian argument; while in Europe where horsemeat is sold in grocery stores, I was told that horse meat is not only low in fat but the meat is tender no matter what age the horse was. The horse has served a useful life and it continues in death when used to feed humans and zoo animals. Renderings produce gelatin (think canned hams, jell-o, etc) and fats are used for things such as lipstick. Anyone on hormone replacement therapy has heard about Pre(gnant)Mar(e)(Ur)ine which is obtained from, as the name says, pregnant mares - what do you think happens to the foals? Well, as long as they are shipped to "Minnesota" they can be crammed into a double decker trailer thanks to all of us who sent e-mails to back the bill which outlawed double decker trailers being used to transport - "horses for slaughter." Guess we all meant "horses."
