16. steve,
The paps were using 500 and 600 mm
lenses to shoot matthew. He was so far away from them, you could barely see him with the naked eye. They were low key and quiet and far away, so don't confuse this incident with gang bang Britney type scenes. He wasn't bothered by them, and seemed unaware of their presence. Only the boozed up territorial surfers took issue with the group of peaceful paps. Matthew is very laid back, and doesn't give a crap about pictures being taken, just as long as he is given space, and long lenses are used. So most paps respect his wishes and oblige him because he is so giving and cool.
17. LOOKS LIKE A BUNCH OF RICH PANSIE ASS FAGS BITCH SLAPPING SOME LITTLE GIRLS TRYING TO TAKE THEIR PICTURE! GIVE ME A BREAK! YOU FANCY BOYS WOULDN'T LAST 3 SECONDS IN A REAL THROW DOWN! STAY ON YOUR STINKING PRIVATE BEACHES WHERE YOU'RE SAFE FROM THE REST OF THE BIG BAD WORLD!
18. The paps deserve this and a whole lot more. Personally, I believe a law should be passed preventing them from coming within 100 or 200 feet of any celebrity. They can still get their scum bag pictures with telephoto lens, and give the celebrities at least some respect. Put it to the vote America. It would pass in a breeze.
19. I work in Malibu and live in topanga...the paparazzi are like flies to $@#!? I'm a photographer but would never be caught dead disgracing the art with the #$!@? that they put out and the harrassment they cause to individuals. Being famous puts you in the public eye, but being followed all the time should be illegal...there is no way any "not" famous person would put up with being followed, photographed and then publicized for all the world to see without kicking somebody's ass. I am so glad they are cracking down on those pariahs once and for all.....
21. "No such thing as locals only on a public beach in California."
JThadeus you idiot, that is a PRIVATE BEACH, non-residents are legally only allowed to walk between the mean high tide line and the ocean.
Get it straight and keep behind the high tide line!
22. It's a private beach, scumbags. Papscum are only allowed to be behind the mean high tide line. Looks like they ended up in the water anyway.
Bunch of stupid comments here from the paps themselves lol
Just because it's mostly-affluent Malibu doesn't mean no one here will kick your stupid ass for disrespecting them in their backyard.
Get a life you stinkin' vultures!
Your bs is getting shut down in Malibu.
24. No such thing as locals only on a public beach in California. Sounds like gang turf talk to me. Maybe these surfers are really gang bangers instead of athletes enjoying the surf. Possibly they need to be taught a lesson by local law enforcment.
25. This bunch of surfer dudes are lucky one of their targets was not packing. It would have been justifiable homicide during the course of reasonable self defense.
26. Photo's that are taken for editorial use in a public place enjoy protection under the right of free speech. Editorial photographs can come under scrutiny when a caption is added if the caption implies something false or slanderous, then it is no longer protected. Photographers cannot take pictures of a person in a public place without permission if that photo is going to be used to promote any goods or services. So, the idiot surfers on the beach just gave a good argument to those who want to ban alcohol from the area! How stupid and pathetic. If you are in the public eye, get ready because someone is going to take your picture LEGALLY and there is just very little you can do about it. Surfer ‘Dudes’ & ‘Dudettes’, get a life, away from the drugs and alcohol.
27. I like that someone stood up to the paparazzi, it’s just a shame it was a bunch of beach bums and not our court system. These guys are paid stalkers plain and simple. What if you did your job very well and the reward you received is having someone follow you around all day taking pictures of you, hoping to catch you with snot on your face or some other human failing. It’s creepy. Just because they have money makes them no less human.

23. I wonder what mass communication network will be like without these kinds of nonsense. Can one imagine news without mindless excitement?
